Black Box-a gift from Lady Gaga

we learnt abut accretion and substraction and our assignment is to create a black box made of bamboo and recycable paper capable of containing 6 ballons without exposing them...

so the 1st step was 2 cut out bamboo...basically my intented black box was different, oh well, improvisation is a must and i bended the bamboo untill it created till amazing shape !!! (FORM N SHAPE applied) and i love it...its kinda like an armor ..GAGA inspired again..

YOU SEE, ASIDE FROM KEEPING BALLOONS, my black box can be worn on the head..its great deal of fun...its like Lady gaga's prop for a bad romance concert sent to me! haha...its fun!!!!

my black box

My Black Box is basically my inspiration, my imagination. Yar..thats sums it all...whenever i try to search for inspiration, my black box is where i head to..its where i find my inner self and start brainstorming...its just a magical experience..

i was sick during the weekend, started recovering and i just had no clue..my brain was like not moving and there , we had to design a black box..OMG...i tried designing and sketching a real ;blackbox' and this was what came out of my sketch book so..this is it!!!!!

its really fashion editorial inspired..katemoss swan like...wheels...art.ponies..its like Alice in Wonderland inspired..its almost as if im stuck in a fantasyworld...in my black box....its all draining and pumping in my veins!!! my black box

i wished i had stepped forward faster than miss Q, ohwell..coz..i have no idea of the lecturers understood my black box..oh well.....let it be...

Casket for me

the assignments of RUS101 are getting so weird...to design a casket for me?? im like stunned...at last, i came out with a crystal-reflection casket inspired by mosaic mirrors reminiscent of the many fascets of life. I mean these crystal, shine and glow beautifully with the penetration of light at diff angles. Like me, With light(life), beauty can be shown but once lifeless(dark) onlky death pertains....
As for the bamboo casket, i just thought of the bubu(malay traditional fishing tool). I simple love the bamboo details done to it..thats all

went back to Ipoh and had my DSLR rolling...

through this assignment, i kinda found myself, i mean know who i am more personally, its all about knwing yourself. and i j'dore the black and white mask..though its rather "loud" compared to the others, my way of telling a story, sahring my emotion is different, its through the way my Art speaks...

Mask!-Gaga-fied

One of the assignments given was to create our own masks(paper mache) . Two in total, one painted according to our skin tone and the 2nd 1 -black and white with an emotion.

Did some research, maybe watching Art Attack back in those Disney childhood days did help somehow in this project.

Together with wei rong, wengjen and chin tek, we collaborated. I used clay as the base and after it being dried, applied PVA glue+water on strips of newspaper, A4 paper and tissue paper to create my paper mache!


when i knew we were doing masks, i instantly knew my source of inspiration-theatre/fashion. Theatre is all about elaboration, over the top, flamboyish-making you larger than life. And who else better than to learn from the master himself-Alexander McQeen....i thuoght of structure, strength, battlefield, weapon, armour. For the black and white emotion mask, i wanted to do a mask that represents inner strength, a spirit, force eagering to fight to the finish. really wanted to do a knight/ gladiator mask...ohwell....Lady Gaga's eccentric sense also inspired me somehow... making me more eager to step out of the dull and mundane box.
